Subsidized Programs
Wings MAP accepts payments from groups under programs such as 4 C's and CPS. These programs have limited guidelines for what they cover. Parents participating in such programs agree to pay all charges above the limits of these programs as well as extra charges for Martial arts gear, field trips, testing fees etc.
No Refunds: Please make a family commitment to support and encourage your student through a full three months, three or more days per week. This is important because it takes some students longer than others to realize the benefits and fun that are involved in the martial arts. Your contract can always be cancelled with a 30 days notice.
Studio Rules: For the safety of each student and those around them the rules must be strictly adhered to. Knowing martial arts requires each practitioner to have a high level of self control and responsibility. We will not teach martial arts skills to students who do not display self-control. A copy of the rules and disciplinary guidelines is included in the welcome packet . Please read them and share them with your children. The rules change occasionally so please be sure you read them each new academic year.
Testing and Promotion: Testing can be both exciting and anxious. It is VERY important that you make a commitment to support your students both mentally and financially. Promotion is something the martial arts give students' that most other sports and activities do not. It is one of the most empowering things a student can experience. Promotion encourages a student to try even harder. At Wings MAP we test our students for 5 promotions before they are required to test at "association level" in front of a panel of black belt judges. Wings MAP tests are the last Wednesday of each month with a $10.00 test fee. Association tests are quarterly with a $50.00 test fee.
Testing requirements- Because we train body, mind and spirit testing not only requires a student to know his material but to also have shown growth in every area and maintain a higher behavioral/study standard at home and school.
In addition to required Tang Soo Do skills:
Students must be free from level "4" and above disciplinary action since the last test.
Students must have homework or quiet time activity (book etc,) at least 1/3 of the time they are with us.
Students must have displayed compassion, good citizenship and respect for parents, teachers, students and others at the studio and home.
Students should be endorsed by all Wings MAP staff and turn in a character builder.
Minimum of 24 classes and 3 consecutive months practice for association level tests.
Vacations: It is our wish never to penalize our students for enjoying family time together. Therefore you may take as much vacation time as you wish as long as we are notified in writing prior to the 20th of the proceeding month.. Please plan your calendar carefully.

Parents, guardians, or a person from your "allowed pick up list" must sign your student out at the end of each day. Please be sure to carefully and completely fill out the lower section on identification and emergency information. If there is not enough room for all persons allowed to regularly pick up your student(s) attach a new sheet. If there are special circumstances, such as a restraining order, be sure to inform the office.
Sign-In on Full Days: Please circle the day of the week you are here and initial the circle. Sign out as usual.
Courtesy Shuttles: State Law prohibits passengers under 6 years or 60 lbs from riding in a vehicle without the use of a safety seat.. Wings MAP has several "boosters" used for Children not meeting the requirement. Parents may provide Wings MAP with a booster seat of their preference. Please remember our shuttle vans are a free courtesy for our customers and may not make every stop on time due to due to traffic conditions, weather, human error and mechanical difficulty. The offices of most schools do have our number. However, they are busy and it sometimes takes a while before they call us. Please have your student call us immediately if he or she thinks they may have missed their shuttle.
Uniforms: An official Tang Soo Do uniform (Do-Bohk) will not be required until your student tests at association level. To reach this level normally takes a minimum of three months practice (24 classes). You may purchase a uniform at any time. The purchase of an official uniform indicates a deeper commitment to Tang Soo Do and will be honored when worn by the student. Students wearing their uniform will be given rank position in class. Students often misplace or mix-up uniforms. To address this problem all uniforms will be marked with the students name. It is strongly advised to mark the inside of the Do Bohk with your children(s) name in permanent ink.
Items to Bring to Wings MAP: During the school year homework/quiet time is scheduled each day. Every student should either have homework to do OR a book to read during this time. On rare occasion a student may need a change of clothes. Students with uniforms will use there uniform if they spill something on their clothes. On full days students should bring a lunch, a change of clothes, socks and jacket (for ice skating), a swimsuit and towel, water bottle and athletic shoes (for hiking and vertex), snack money is optional. Wings MAP as well as the offsite places we frequent have additional snacks available at extra charge. Since we are not responsible for personal items, it is recommended that personal electronics are not brought to Wings MAP. Use of electronics is at the discretion of the program instructors.
No Heelies Please. They are not allowed at some of our off site activities and are responsible for causing injuries.
Treasure Chest: Students are given points for good conduct, black belt character, compassion, being organized, doing homework or reading a book during quiet time. These points can be saved or spent when we take out our treasure chest. This is an incentive and reward for excellent character skills.
Special Snack: As another incentive we occasionally provide an extra special snack for students who consistently follow our rules and respect guidelines. Students are given "strikes" when they do not obey the rules - after being warned. If a student has too many strikes they will miss out on "special snack", and get a 'regular snack".
Character Builders: Tang Soo Do is a whole person martial art that encourages personal growth and character building. Character builders are used as a tool help young people make positive qualities a part of daily life. They are kept at home and turned back in when completed and signed by guardians. Part of preparing for an association test is turning in a character builder sheet for a pre-testing stripe. Character builders are included in your welcome kit or available through staff members.
World Tang Soo Do Association(WTSDA): The WTSDA is a world wide organization that not only gives us an abundance of opportunities that other martial arts programs can not offer but also maintains a high level testing requirement and association accountability. The WTSDA prides itself in producing students of true black belt skill and more important excellent character. It costs $30.00 one time to join the WTSDA and $50.00 for each test. These tests are held at Fitness Fanatics (5224 Aero Dr. Santa Rosa, 544-5305) the first Saturday of February, May, August, and November
